Massage Magazine reported that approximately 45,000 massage therapists and bodyworkers stop practicing each year. This is a shockingly HUGE number. A large part of this frustration is due to the “temporary benefits” of massage therapy and the loss of clients as a result. A Myofascial Release (MFR) massage is very different than traditional massage in that it’s effects are lasting and it releases the pain, tightness, and stiffness at the source – which is in the deepest layer of the connective tissue. A deep tissue massage is deep only in the upper layer of connective tissue – the elastic layer where symptoms are located – never reaching the source. In a MFR session, the MFR therapist uses sustained pressure into fascial “restrictions” or “areas of tightness, stiffness, or pain” allowing the “knots” and inflammation to literally melt away therefore providing consistent, profound and lasting results. The muscle/fascial restriction requires 90 to 120 seconds of sustained pressure to be released, once released it allows the therapist to access deeper layers that are more difficult to reach, and not reachable with massage. As a result of these deep releases, there is an increased range of motion, flexibility is restored, stress in the mind and body is reduced via activation of the parasympathetic nervous system, and pain is eliminated. New research also shows that MFR is a power anti- inflammatory, activates the immune system to send macrophages to heal that part of the body, and accelerates nerve regeneration. All these benefits are in addition to pain elimination or reduction, increased range of motion and balance. The John Barnes Myofascial Release approach is the cutting edge of bodywork. Massage therapists, Physical Therapists, Registered Nurses, and Occupational Therapists from around the globe are learning this approach because it works so well and it lasts. If you suffer from chronic pain, poor posture, injuries, decreased mobility, Sciatica, nerve disease, headaches, migraines, head/back/neck pain, Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, plantar fasciitis, scars, herniated or bulging disks, entrapped nerves, or any other condition not improved by massage therapy or other modalities, you could greatly benefit from myofascial release therapy.
The Lasting Pain Relief Center has highly experienced MFR Therapists and who can attest to the profound results of this work. Each therapist has had life-changing personal experiences receiving MFR and as therapists, have helped many frustrated people looking for relief to get their lives back. Those clients (even those who originally called to have a “deep tissue” massage) who have received an MFR session are astounded by the results of MFR and have not gone back to traditional massage.
